By Pete Kercher, President of EIDD
What part is played by enabling interfaces, enabling environments and enabling processes to generating an enabling society, in which different people can make their different productive contributions to achieving a more flourishing economy, at the same time as cutting social costs? This was the field investigated by the EIDD Annual Conference 2006, held in Waterford on 18-19 May.
Concluding the Conference, EIDD adopted the Waterford Convention, which encapsulates the aspirations enshrined in the international treaties and calls for a greater focus on holistic Design for All methods to achieve them, including a regular European Standing Conference, to meet once every four years.
