Tate Modern

By Karin Bendixen

Steps are meeting places, places for rest and for conversation. Steps can also be barriers. But how to do without them?

Take a look at this ramp at Tate Modern in London.

A long ramp leads down into the Turbin Hall and level one. The ramp is 85 metres long with a gradient of 1 in 12. A flight of steps with a handrail runs along the length of the ramp. There are also a lift, stairs and an escalator.

The Tate Modern has a special Access Guide for visitors with special needs.
